Paul Weller

Paul Weller went solo in 1992, after years fronting The Jam and then The Style Council. Wild Wood set the tone in 1993 with its mix of mod, soul and acoustic folk, and two years later Stanley Road became his biggest success: a UK number one carrying The Changingman, Broken Stones and You Do Something To Me, wrapped in a collage sleeve by Peter Blake. He kept making new records rather than living off the back catalogue, through the double album 22 Dreams in 2008, the psychedelic tint of Saturns Pattern, the lockdown record Fat Pop (Volume 1) and 66, named after the age he turned a day after its release. The Britpop generation christened him the Modfather.
