Ring Ring was originally released in 1973 as the debut album of the later ABBA, then still released under the name Björn Benny and Agnetha Frida. The title track was written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus together with Stig Anderson, with an English lyric by Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody. As a single, Ring Ring finished third in the Swedish qualifier for the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest, but still became a hit in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Belgium. The album also featured People Need Love, the group's first joint single, and Another Town, Another Train. The recordings were overseen by engineer Michael B. Tretow. A year later, Waterloo brought the band's international breakthrough.
