On Swing When You're Winning, Robbie Williams swapped his pop band for a big band and took on the songbook of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and their contemporaries. The album, originally released in 2001, was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles with Guy Chambers producing. Williams sings duets with Nicole Kidman, Rupert Everett and Jane Horrocks among others, and on "It Was a Very Good Year" he shares the song with Sinatra's original vocal. "Somethin' Stupid" with Kidman spent three weeks at number one in the UK. The album itself entered the chart at number one and, with 1.8 million copies sold in seven weeks, became his fastest-selling UK album. AllMusic called the swing project "a surprisingly natural fit" for Williams.
