Woke Up with a Monster was Cheap Trick's twelfth studio album and originally came out in 1994. It remained their only album for Warner Bros. Records: the label dropped the band shortly after its release. Ted Templeman, known for his work with Van Halen and The Doobie Brothers, produced the sessions. The title track, written by Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander, and Tom Petersson, was the first of five singles, followed by 'You're All I Wanna Do' and 'Girlfriends' among others. The album got no further than number 123 on the Billboard 200 and fell in a lean period for the band.
