With Songs from the Wood Jethro Tull turned towards the British folk tradition: layered harmony vocals, seasonal festivals and village tales, carried by acoustic guitar, mandolin and John Evan's organ. Originally released in 1977, the album opens with the a cappella entry of the title track and goes on to 'Jack-in-the-Green', 'The Whistler' and the wintry single 'Ring Out, Solstice Bells'. David Palmer handled the arrangements, and Martin Barre and Ian Anderson wove electric and acoustic parts through one another. It is the first part of what later became known as the folk trilogy with Heavy Horses and Stormwatch. This edition is an LP with Steven Wilson's stereo remix.
