Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull formed in Blackpool in 1967 around singer and flautist Ian Anderson. The band started out as a blues rock outfit on This Was, grew into one of the biggest names in progressive rock with Aqualung and Thick as a Brick, and turned towards British folk on Songs from the Wood and Heavy Horses in the late seventies. The eighties pushed the sound towards synthesizers, and Crest of a Knave won the very first Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 1989. After a long silence Anderson returned with The Zealot Gene (2022), RökFlöte (2023) and Curious Ruminant (2025). Guitarist Martin Barre shaped the band's guitar sound between 1969 and 2011.
