The Zealot Gene was, in 2022, the first studio album under the Jethro Tull name since 2003. Ian Anderson began recording as far back as 2017, with guitarist Florian Opahle, and only finished the work years later. The lyrics lean on biblical stories and use them as a mirror for present-day anger and division, with Anderson saying he holds both an affection for those stories and a need to question them. Musically the album sits close to the acoustic, folk-tinged Tull sound, with mandolin and flute alongside the regular line-up of David Goodier, John O'Hara and Scott Hammond. It reached the top ten in the United Kingdom and Germany. This edition is a limited 2-LP on clear vinyl with a CD included.
