Jazz originally appeared in 1978 as Queen's seventh studio album and shows the band at its most eclectic: from the Arabian-flavoured Mustapha and the double A-side Fat Bottomed Girls / Bicycle Race to the racing Don't Stop Me Now. Rolling Stone dismissed the album at the time as "more of the same dull pastiche", but the magazine later placed it among a list of classics it had initially panned. Those genre jumps — rock, pop, disco accents — define the album's character.
