Eric B. & Rakim's Microphone Fiend, MC5's Kick Out the Jams, Bob Dylan's Maggie's Farm: on Renegades, Rage Against the Machine covers songs from hip-hop, punk, rock and protest folk. It is the band's fourth and final studio album, originally released in 2000 via Epic Records, almost two months after the group had split up. Rick Rubin produced most of it, while Brendan O'Brien handled Bruce Springsteen's The Ghost of Tom Joad. Afrika Bambaataa's Renegades of Funk, The Rolling Stones' Street Fighting Man and Minor Threat's In My Eyes are also here. NME called the album 'a brilliant archaeology'. The cover is a take on Robert Indiana's Love series.
