Ray Davies wrote Low Budget in New York, during the fuel crisis and the recession of the late seventies, and you can hear it: the studio album is about lack of money, fear and holding on. It dates originally from 1979 and carries the tougher, arena-facing guitar sound that made The Kinks big in America; (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman, Catch Me Now I'm Falling and the title track are the best-known songs. For this reissue the album was newly remastered in 2026 from the original production sources. This edition is an LP.
