The Queen Is Dead is the third studio album by The Smiths and originally came out in 1986 on Rough Trade. Johnny Marr stacks acoustic and electric guitar parts on top of each other, from the driving opening track to the chiming There Is a Light That Never Goes Out, while Morrissey moves between mockery of the monarchy in the title track, black humour in Frankly, Mr. Shankly and plain despair in I Know It's Over. Bigmouth Strikes Again, The Boy with the Thorn in His Side and Cemetry Gates are among the best-known songs. The album reached number 2 in the United Kingdom. This edition is an LP.
