With the slow-building "I Wanna Be Adored" as its opener, The Stone Roses set the template for a whole generation of British guitar bands. The Manchester band's debut album, originally released in 1989 on Silvertone, fuses jangling sixties-style guitars with the groove of the emerging Madchester and dance scene. Producer John Leckie recorded it between June 1988 and February 1989, mostly at Battery Studios in London. Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni delivered songs such as "She Bangs the Drums", "Waterfall", "Made of Stone" and the extended closer "I Am the Resurrection". In 2006 NME placed the album at the top of its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.
