Many States of Independence gathered well-known mixes of State of Independence, together with the album version. The song was written by Jon Anderson and Vangelis; Donna Summer recorded her version for the 1982 album Donna Summer, produced by Quincy Jones. Her rendition reached the UK top 20 twice. The collection featured mixes from 1982, 1990 and 1996, including the New Bass Mix, the DJ Dero Vocal Mix, the Murk Club Mix and the Millennium Mix featuring excerpts from Martin Luther King. The compilation was released in 2024 through Driven By The Music.
