Over the Edge was the soundtrack to the film of the same name from 1979 by director Jonathan Kaplan, in which Matt Dillon made his film debut. The film about teenagers growing up in a planned suburb became a cult classic. On the soundtrack, which was originally released the same year, Cheap Trick took a prominent place with tracks including Surrender, Hello There and Downed. The album also featured music by The Cars, Van Halen with You Really Got Me, Ramones with Teenage Lobotomy, Jimi Hendrix, Little Feat and Valerie Carter.
