The Very Best Of was a compilation album by Talk Talk, originally released in 1997. It traced the band's evolution under Mark Hollis, from synth-pop in the early 1980s to experimental, subdued work in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Songs such as It's My Life, Such a Shame, Life's What You Make It, Talk Talk, Today and Living in Another World represented the band's different phases. I Believe in You was also included on the compilation. Such a Shame and It's My Life were major hits in the Netherlands and Belgium at the time. The 16 tracks spanned the period from 1982 to 1991.
