The Early Years 1984-1985 gathers early singles and B-sides by The Jesus and Mary Chain, the Scottish band led by brothers Jim and William Reid from East Kilbride. The 2025 release contains thirteen tracks. Among them is the debut single Upside Down from 1984 on the Creation label, backed with Syd Barrett's Vegetable Man as the B-side. It also includes singles from the period of the 1985 album Psychocandy, which combined pop melodies with walls of feedback.
