Yes

Yes was formed in London in 1968 by singer Jon Anderson and bassist Chris Squire and became one of the defining names in progressive rock. On The Yes Album (1971), Fragile and Close to the Edge the band - with guitarist Steve Howe, keyboard player Rick Wakeman and drummers Bill Bruford and later Alan White - built pieces of ten to twenty minutes, full of layered harmony vocals, acoustic guitar passages and Squire's sharp, melodic bass lines. In the 1980s Yes took a more compact turn with Trevor Rabin, and 90125 produced a number 1 hit in the United States with 'Owner of a Lonely Heart'. Roger Dean's sleeve art, with its floating rocks and the stylised band logo, has been part of the group's image since Fragile. Squire, the only member to play on every album, died in 2015 and Alan White in 2022; under Steve Howe's direction Yes kept making studio albums, including Mirror to the Sky (2023) and Aurora (2026). The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
