Get a Grip, originally released in 1993, was the first Aerosmith album to enter the Billboard 200 at number one. Bruce Fairbairn produced again, as he had on Pump, and the band wrote with outside songwriters such as Desmond Child and Mark Hudson on the ballads that carried the album. The videos for Cryin', Crazy, and Amazing, starring Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler, ran on MTV for months. Livin' on the Edge won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and Crazy took the same award two years later. Don Henley sang backing vocals on Amazing and Lenny Kravitz played on Line Up. It became the best-selling album in the band's catalogue.
