The Allfather Awakens is the thirteenth studio album by Sweden's Amon Amarth. Odin is once again the common thread, but it is explicitly not a concept album: the ten songs tell separate tales from history and mythology about conflict and sacrifice. For the first time the band wrote songs while on tour, and recording took place in two sessions months apart at producer Jacob Hansen's studio in Denmark, one song at a time until each was completely finished. For the guitars the band moved away from 5150 amps and back to Marshalls, for a slightly less modern sound. Opener Gjallarhorn is high-tempo melodic death metal with a chorus built for shouting along, while Upphaf is the band's first acoustic song. The cover is a portrait of Odin by Tom Thiel, who has made seven album covers for the band in total.
This edition is an LP on green marbled vinyl.
