For the band's fiftieth anniversary Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks recorded a new studio album together in 2012, their first with Wilson since 1996. That's Why God Made the Radio came out in June 2012 and entered the American album chart at number three. Alongside the title track and the light-hearted Isn't It Time there is a closing run of songs, From There to Back Again, Pacific Coast Highway and Summer's Gone, about growing older and saying goodbye.

This edition is a 7-inch single with the title track and the instrumental version on the B-side.
