On Check Your Head the Beastie Boys picked up their instruments again: Yauch on bass, Horovitz on guitar and Diamond on drums, with Mark Ramos Nishita, known as Money Mark, on keyboards. The album originally appeared in 1992, recorded at their own G-Son Studios in Atwater Village with Mario Caldato Jr., and slides back and forth between rap, hardcore punk and instrumental funk. 'So What'cha Want', 'Pass the Mic' and 'Jimmy James' became the best-known tracks, while pieces such as 'Groove Holmes' and 'In 3's' laid the ground for the later instrumental compilation The In Sound from Way Out!. After the disappointing sales of Paul's Boutique, the album won their audience back. This edition is a 4-LP box for the album's 30th anniversary, with two bonus LPs of remixes, live recordings and B-sides.
