On 6 October 1972 Bill Withers played Carnegie Hall with a small, tightly swinging band; that recording was originally released in April 1973 as a double album on Sussex Records. The album opens with a version of Use Me that runs well over eight minutes, and further on there are Grandma's Hands, Ain't No Sunshine and Lean on Me. Withers talks to the room between songs, which makes the whole thing sound more like an evening in company than a concert recording. His voice sits dry and close in the mix, while the rhythm section of James Gadson and Melvin Dunlap keeps it tight. This edition is a 2LP on pink.
