X&Y was Coldplay's third studio album and originally appeared in 2005. The band worked on it for a long time and scrapped entire sessions along the way; the result sounds bigger and more electronic than its two predecessors, built on synthesisers and ringing guitars. Speed of Sound, Fix You, and Talk became the best-known songs, with Talk borrowing its melody from Kraftwerk's Computer Love. According to the IFPI, X&Y was the best-selling album worldwide in 2005.
