In 1965 an eighteen-year-old David Bowie, still billed as Davie Jones, cut a run of sessions with producer Shel Talmy, the man behind the early singles by The Who and The Kinks. This compilation gathers those recordings: work with The Manish Boys, with Davie Jones and the Lower Third and under his own name, with Jimmy Page on guitar and Nicky Hopkins on piano. It holds previously unreleased compositions and alternative takes alongside 'You've Got A Habit Of Leaving' and 'Baby Loves That Way', originally issued as Parlophone singles in 1965 and re-recorded by Bowie decades later for Toy. Everything is in mono, the way the sessions were meant to sound. This is the earliest chapter of his discography, years before Space Oddity.
