101 documents the closing concert of the Music for the Masses tour: 18 June 1988 at a sold-out Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The title refers to the number of shows on that tour, of which this was the hundred and first. The live album originally appeared in 1989 and runs from the instrumental Pimpf through Stripped, Never Let Me Down Again, and Master and Servant to Everything Counts, where the crowd takes over the chorus. D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus filmed the build-up and the show for the documentary of the same name, which captured the band's American breakthrough. This edition is a 2LP.
