For Songs of Faith and Devotion, Depeche Mode moved into a rented house in Madrid in 1992 to live and record there, a stretch full of tension within the group. The eighth studio album, originally released in 1993, traded tight synthesizer production for live drums, guitar feedback, and gospel voices: I Feel You opens on a screaming guitar, Condemnation leans on a choir and a stomping foot beat, and In Your Room was reworked by Butch Vig for the single version. The album entered at number 1 in both the United Kingdom and the United States. The gruelling tour that followed led Alan Wilder to leave in 1995. This edition is an LP.
