The Long Run was the sixth Eagles studio album and the first with Timothy B. Schmit, who replaced Randy Meisner on bass and in the high harmony. The band spent close to two years on it with Bill Szymczyk, and that struggle colours the record: tightly played, but with a sour edge in songs such as King of Hollywood and The Disco Strangler. Heartache Tonight, written with Bob Seger and J.D. Souther, went to number one in the United States and won a Grammy; I Can't Tell You Why handed Schmit a hit of his own straight away. The album originally dates from 1979 and turned out to be the last studio work before the 1980 split. This edition is an LP.
