Atlantis was originally released in 1973 as the third studio album by Dutch symphonic rock band Earth and Fire, centred on singer Jerney Kaagman and brothers Chris and Gerard Koerts. The first side consisted of a continuous concept suite about the mythical city of Atlantis, which through greed falls to the four elements. The second side contained shorter, standalone songs, including the hit Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight. Mellotron and organ were characteristic of the album's sound. Atlantis is considered a highlight of Dutch symphonic rock.
