After the 1968 television special, Elvis Presley walked into American Sound Studio in Memphis in early 1969, where producer Chips Moman and his house band — the Memphis Boys — brought him back to soul, country and gospel. From Elvis in Memphis is the studio album that came out of those sessions, with the socially charged 'In the Ghetto' as its best-known recording; alongside it sit southern soul ('Only the Strong Survive'), country ('I'll Hold You in My Heart') and dramatic ballads ('Long Black Limousine'). Rolling Stone included it on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It was originally released in 1969 on RCA Records.
