Be Yourself Tonight was released in 1985 by Eurythmics, the duo of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. The album marked a shift from the synthpop of their earlier work toward a sound rooted in soul and rock, featuring real guitars and horns. Would I Lie to You? became a US hit, and There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart), featuring a harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder, gave the duo their only UK number one. On Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves, Lennox sang a duet with Aretha Franklin, and Elvis Costello contributed to Adrian. The album was recorded largely in Paris.
