Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots is the album that brought The Flaming Lips their widest audience. Originally released in 2002, it pairs a half-finished story about a girl taking on pink robots with songs about loss and mortality, of which Do You Realize?? became the best known. Producer Dave Fridmann set the acoustic guitars and drumming of Steven Drozd against synthesizers and digital noise. The instrumental Approaching Pavonis Mons By Balloon won the band a Grammy in 2003. This edition is an LP pressed as a picture disc.
