For her second album, originally released in October 1963, Hardy worked with the orchestra of Marcel Hendrix. The title track Le Premier Bonheur du jour was written specially for her, with words by Frank Gérald and music by Jean Renard. It also holds L'amour s'en va, the song she performed for Monaco at the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest, where she finished fifth. The album further contains French adaptations of American songs, such as L'amour d'un garçon from The Love of a Boy by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and Avant de t'en aller from Paul Anka's Think About It. Hardy wrote the remaining songs herself. Os Mutantes covered the title track on their 1968 debut album.
