Soleil, originally from October 1970, was the first album Hardy made after leaving Disques Vogue and setting up her own production company, Hypopotam. It was her first collaboration with the British musicians Micky Jones and Tommy Brown, who arranged, played, and co-wrote L'ombre and Je fais des puzzles. Alongside the title track it holds Fleur de lune, Le crabe, and Mon monde n'est pas vrai; part of the lyrics came from other writers, among them the novelist Patrick Modiano. AllMusic reviewer Richie Unterberger calls Fleur de lune "one of her best-ever songs".
