Roxy & Elsewhere captures the band Frank Zappa was playing with at the end of 1973: George Duke on keyboards, Ruth Underwood on marimba and vibes, Napoleon Murphy Brock on vocals and saxophone, and two drummers. Most of the recordings come from three nights at The Roxy in Hollywood, filled out with performances from Chicago and Edinboro. Between 'Penguin In Bondage', 'Village Of The Sun', 'Echidna's Arf (Of You)' and the intricate 'Be-Bop Tango', Zappa talks the audience through what is coming, the monologue about B-movies introducing 'Cheepnis' being the best-known example. The album originally appeared in 1974 on DiscReet Records, credited to Frank Zappa and The Mothers. This edition is a 2-LP.
