Live At The Whisky A Go Go 1968 is a live album by Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention, recorded on 23 July 1968 at the famed Whisky a Go Go club in Los Angeles. The recordings sat in the archive for more than half a century and were first released in 2024. The set shows The Mothers Of Invention in their early, anarchic form, with long improvisations, doo-wop parodies and socially critical satire. Alongside early material such as 'Hungry Freaks, Daddy' and the extended 'King Kong', the show includes a rendition of 'My Boyfriend's Back'. Zappa combined rock, jazz, contemporary classical music and absurdist humour in a way that was far ahead of its time in 1968.
