After five years without new work George Harrison returned with Cloud Nine, produced with Jeff Lynne at his own studio in Friar Park. Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Jim Keltner and Gary Wright played on it. "Got My Mind Set on You", a reworking of a 1962 James Ray song, went to number one in the United States, while "When We Was Fab" looks back on the Beatlemania years with a wink. The eleventh studio album originally appeared in 1987, and the work with Lynne led that same year to the founding of the Traveling Wilburys.
