In December 1991 George Harrison toured Japan with Eric Clapton and his band, his first full run of concerts since the 1974 tour. Live in Japan captures those shows in a set that places his solo work next to his Beatles songs: "Taxman", "Something", "Piggies" and "Here Comes the Sun" alternate with "My Sweet Lord", "What Is Life", "Cloud 9" and "Got My Mind Set on You". The backing band, which alongside Clapton included Nathan East, Steve Ferrone, Chuck Leavell and Ray Cooper, keeps the arrangements close to the studio versions. The double album originally came out in 1992 and was only Harrison's second official live release after The Concert for Bangladesh.
