American Beauty, originally released in 1970, marked Grateful Dead's turn toward folk and americana alongside Workingman's Dead from the same year. The focus shifted to songs, harmony singing and acoustic arrangements, with "Box of Rain", "Friend of the Devil", "Sugar Magnolia", "Ripple", "Truckin'" and "Attics of My Life". The album was included on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
