This self-titled live album from 1971, widely known as "Skull & Roses" after its cover artwork, was Grateful Dead's second official concert album. Several songs took on their familiar live form here, including "Bertha", "Wharf Rat", "Playing in the Band", "Me and Bobby McGee" and the medley "Not Fade Away / Goin' Down the Road Feeling Bad". It introduced a wider audience to the way the band worked on stage.
