Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead became the heart of San Francisco's psychedelic scene in the 1960s. Built around guitarist Jerry Garcia, the band forged its own blend of rock, folk, blues and country, with sprawling improvisations that made every concert different. Studio albums like Anthem of the Sun, Workingman's Dead and American Beauty sit alongside a vast run of live recordings, because the stage was where the band truly came alive. Their devoted following, the Deadheads, travelled from show to show for years; after Garcia's death in 1995 the band ceased to exist in this form.
This collection brings together The Grateful Dead on vinyl, LP and CD: studio albums, reissues and the many live recordings from their long career.
