Use Your Illusion I and II were originally released on the same day in September 1991, as the follow-ups to Appetite for Destruction. With drummer Matt Sorum and keyboardist Dizzy Reed on board, the Guns N' Roses sound grew out of the raw hard rock of the debut into longer, more worked-out pieces: November Rain, Estranged, and Civil War sit alongside shorter, harder tracks such as Get in the Ring, plus covers of Bob Dylan (Knockin' on Heaven's Door) and Wings (Live and Let Die). Volume II entered the Billboard 200 at number one, volume I at number two. These were the last studio albums by the line-up that made the band's name: Izzy Stradlin left later in 1991, Slash and Duff McKagan a few years after that. This edition is a box set holding twelve LPs and a Blu-ray, with the albums remastered for the first time, two complete live shows from New York and Las Vegas, and a hundred-page hardcover book.
