Powerslave is the fifth studio album by Iron Maiden, released in 1984 and produced by Martin Birch. It was the first album the band recorded with the lineup that would remain unchanged for a while: Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Nicko McBrain. The singles 2 Minutes to Midnight, about the arms industry and the threat of nuclear war, and Aces High, about the Battle of Britain, are among the band's best-known songs. The album closes with Rime of the Ancient Mariner, an epic composition of roughly fourteen minutes inspired by the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The album cover by Derek Riggs depicts mascot Eddie as an Egyptian pharaoh. To promote the album, Iron Maiden toured the world with the World Slavery Tour, a tour of around 190 shows that later formed the basis for the live album Live After Death.
