Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is the seventh studio album by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, originally released in 1988. It is a concept album built around the figure of the seventh son of a seventh son, who according to folklore possesses clairvoyant powers. Here the band used keyboards and synthesizers prominently for the first time, giving the album a more melodic and atmospheric character. It yielded the hit singles 'Can I Play With Madness', 'The Evil That Men Do' and 'The Clairvoyant'. The album reached number one on the UK albums chart. It was also the last Iron Maiden album with guitarist Adrian Smith until his return in 1999.
