The Imperial March turned Darth Vader into a musical character, a march theme that keeps returning across the rest of the series. For this film John Williams also wrote Yoda's Theme and Han Solo and the Princess, and let those melodies collide throughout the score. Recording again took place with the London Symphony Orchestra, at times with more than a hundred players at once. The album originally appeared in 1980 on RSO Records, received an Academy Award nomination, and won a Grammy for best film score album.
