Redeemer of Souls originally appeared in 2014 as the seventeenth Judas Priest studio album and was the first with Richie Faulkner, who took over from K.K. Downing in 2011. Faulkner wrote the whole record with Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton, deliberately returning to direct riffs and twin guitar lines after the conceptual Nostradamus. Dragonaut, Halls of Valhalla, and the title track lean on tempo and chorus, while Beginning of the End closes more quietly. The album reached number 6 in the United States, at that point the band's highest placing there.
