With Sleepwalker in 1977 The Kinks stepped away from the theatrical concept albums of the preceding years and went back to straightforward rock songs. It was their first album for Arista, aimed at American radio and large halls, with thicker guitars and a tighter production than the Preservation-era work. Life on the Road, Juke Box Music and the title track are among the best known pieces; Ray Davies wrote them around night-time figures, boredom and life on tour. The album put The Kinks back on the American album charts and set up their most successful years there. This edition is an LP.
