HIStory: Continues is the second half of HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, the double album Michael Jackson originally released in 1995. Where the first disc collected his older hits, this one holds fifteen new songs. The tone is combative: "Scream", a duet with his sister Janet, and "They Don't Care About Us" take aim at the press and at injustice, and "Earth Song" deals with the environment and poverty. Against that stands the ballad "You Are Not Alone", written by R. Kelly, the first song ever to enter the American Hot 100 at number one. The album closes with "Smile", the Charlie Chaplin song.
