Less than a year after The Smiths ended, Morrissey was in the studio with an entirely different set of players. Viva Hate, originally released in March 1988, was recorded at The Wool Hall near Bath with Stephen Street as producer, co-writer, and bass player, Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column on guitar, and Andrew Paresi on drums. The album entered the UK chart at number 1 and produced two of his best-known songs straight away in Suedehead and Everyday Is Like Sunday. Around them sit longer, bleaker pieces such as Late Night, Maudlin Street and the closing Margaret on the Guillotine. This edition is an LP.
