With this score John Williams closed out his work on the Star Wars films, after more than forty years and nine instalments. The music was recorded at the Sony Scoring Stage in Culver City and weaves themes from across the series together, from the Force theme to Rey's Theme, with new material in pieces such as Farewell and A New Home. Unlike the earliest films, this one was played not by a British orchestra but by an American studio orchestra. The score originally appeared in December 2019 on Walt Disney Records and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score.

This edition is a 2-LP picture disc, in a limited pressing.
