After being fired from Black Sabbath in 1979, Ozzy Osbourne set up his solo career with Blizzard of Ozz. Originally released in 1980, the album turns on the guitar work of the then 23-year-old Randy Rhoads, who tied classically schooled phrasing to hard-rock riffs. Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley became its best-known tracks, with Bob Daisley on bass and Lee Kerslake on drums as the rhythm section. Suicide Solution and the acoustic instrumental Dee show how wide the album reaches. It went multi-platinum in the United States.
